Directives for Composition of Interview Boards for Grade 1 Admission
Admission of children to grade One of schools next year will be conducted through a special interview board. These interview boards are to be headed by principals of respective schools. The Board will also include the deputy principal, head of the primary section, and a representative each from the school development society and the past students’ association. All interviews are to be completed by the 15th of next month.
The Minister of Education Mr. Bandula Gunawardene said that a special programme is being implemented with the assistance of the CID to take legal action against persons who prepare bogus documents to admit children to schools. The Minister meanwhile requested the parents to submit a copy of a complaint to the ministry in the event of principals requesting money to admit a child to a school. The Education Ministry says it is totally prohibited to receive money or any other commodity other than the schools facilities fees and member ship fees for school development society ,to admit children to schools
